What is the Undergraduate Retake Policy?
The current undergraduate retake policy is briefly summarized below. Please check the Undergraduate Catalog for the complete policy.
- You may retake courses for which you earned a grade of D, F, I, U, or WF.
- If you retake a course in which you previously received an A, B, C, or S, you must retake it as AUDIT.
- For only the first two retakes the credit hours and quality points for the original registration will not be used to calculate your GPA. However, courses in which the original grade was a U do not count as one of your first two retakes.
- After the first two retakes, all letter-graded courses, including retakes, count in the calculation of the GPA.
- You may not retake any course, except on an AUDIT basis, for which transfer credit has been granted.
- ALL grades appear on the official transcript.
- You must retake ALL courses for the same grading option as your original registration, unless you are required to retake for audit.
If you register for the incorrect grade option, or do not select audit when required, the Office of Registration and Records will change your registration and all registration fees will apply.
